The Pueblo West Metropolitan District Board of Directors have named Christian Heyn, previously the Metro District Director of Performance and Compliance, to the role of Interim District Manager.
The Board of Directors and Chief Administrator Brian Caserta, who had been performing the dual role of fire chief and district manager, have mutually agreed it is in the best interest of the Metro District to accelerate his transition back to the sole role of fire chief. In February, Caserta announced his intention to step back from his day-to-day district management duties once a new district manager was hired. Heyn will now take up day-to-day management of the Metro District until that time.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve as the Metro District Manager in the interim,” Heyn said. “I appreciate the support of our workforce as we continue to work together to serve the people of Pueblo West.”
In returning to full duty as fire chief, Caserta continues to lead a growing department that has hired 14 new firefighters in the past year and is on track to build a new fire station, made possible by voter-approved fire safety funding in 2020.
“I appreciate the support of our staff while serving in dual roles,” Caserta said. “This change allows me to be fully committed to the fire department during this exciting time of growth.”
A search for a new district manager is underway.
