PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — The Pueblo West Metropolitan District is unveiling a new Community Volunteer Program designed to administer citizen-led initiatives, community service projects, and upcoming community events.

“Over the years, Pueblo West residents have offered to beautify our community, contribute to a community initiative, or give back in some other fashion,” said Brian Caserta, Pueblo West Metropolitan District Chief Administrator. “In launching our volunteer program, the Metro District will now be able to administer projects and provide opportunities for residents to improve our community in a safe, legal and organized manner.”

The Community Volunteer Program will provide two avenues for residents to volunteer in Pueblo West.

Residents interested in general volunteer opportunities can be connected with Metro District-led projects and initiatives, such as community events or beautification projects. Additionally, assistance and resources can be provided to residents interested in launching a new volunteer project.

“We’ll work closely with every single resident interested in volunteering, learning what kind of projects they’re interested in, and when appropriate, connect them with programs, resources, or other residents and stakeholders to achieve their goals,” said Pueblo West Metropolitan District Neighborhood Services Coordinator Marcos Reyes, who is leading the volunteer project.

The Community Volunteer Program is part of a “residents-first” outreach initiative being undertaken by the Pueblo West Metro District, placing a priority on engagement with volunteers and residents, community events, and improvement of communications channels to reach the vast majority of Pueblo West residents.

Individuals interested in participating in the volunteer program may contact Marcos Reyes, Pueblo West Metro Volunteer Coordinator, at (719) 250-3974, or via email at volunteers@pwmd-co.us
