Sales Tax in Pueblo West
Beginning January 1, 2023, Pueblo West business will begin assessing 2% sales tax, in addition to the 3.9% already levied by Pueblo County.
The following sales taxes have been approved by Pueblo West voters:
- Fire Protection Sales Tax (2020) - A temporary 1% sales tax increase was passed by Pueblo West voters in 2020. The tax will sunset on Dec. 31, 2030
- Streets and Roads Sales Tax (2022) - A temporary 1% sales tax increase, passed through to Pueblo County to maintain Pueblo West streets and roads, was passed by Pueblo West voters in 2022. The tax will sunset on Dec. 31, 2032.

How property tax calculations work
- To determine the assessed (taxable) value of your home, multiply the actual value of your home by the Colorado State Assessment Rate. In 2023, the rate will be 6.95%.
- Local governmental entities assess "mill levies" on property taxes. Annually the Pueblo West Metro District assesses 20.230 mills.
- Mill levies are the dollars per $1,000 of assessed (taxable) property value taxed by a local entities.
- The Pueblo West Metro District has not raised the mill levy rate in over 30 years.
