The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Department partners with the local Pueblo West schools each year to collect canned and dry foods to make Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for Pueblo West families.
Family names are given to the Parks office by the Pueblo West elementary and middle schools. If you are in need of a basket, you will need to contact the school counselor where your child attends and talk with them to get on our list. Only families in Pueblo West are eligible to receive a food basket.
The Pueblo West Parks office will only accept currently dated, not expired canned or dry foods. Donation times are between 8:00am & 3:00pm.
Thanksgiving Donations: Wed., Nov. 1 through Mon., Nov. 13. Turkeys are also welcome during this time.
Christmas Donations: Fri., Dec. 1 through Fri., Dec. 15. Hams are also welcome during this time.
Other food items worth considering:
pastas and spaghetti
meals in a can or box
soups and stews
Non-food items that are also needed:
shampoos & conditioners
Basket Pickups for 2023
Families will be contacted by the counselors and the basket distributions
will be at the Pueblo West Parks office.
Thanksgiving distribution is Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 9-11am.
Christmas distribution is Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 4-6pm.
